High Grey by Rob Burton & C. Kinney
Interesting.
As you read these words I can read from the scents you carry with you a sense of where you have been, who you have been with, what you have recently consumed.
Although you are not a cat, from your own scents I can tell something of your mood. Some things about your state of health. Something of your intentions.
Fascinating.
They’re changing.
I can hear your heart.
When you walk away I will hear where you go.
Even if you move through a crowd. Even if you move to another room.
These mundane things require no hunting on my part but I could hunt for more. Without and within. Try to find those smaller things that tell me more of you. To glimpse what has come before, consider what is to come. If I had the inclination.
I have hunted such things before. Perhaps you have the inclination to follow that hunt. If so, the volume you are holding will be of interest to you. If not, I will not lament your decision.
You may, as you see, fit.

“Reading this lyrical and beguiling cat’s journey through a nameless sun-bleached city, I realise something: we do not anthropomorphise so we can see ourselves anew; we anthropomorphise so we can ourselves aright. High Grey will stay with me for a very, very long time.” - Alex Paknadel
“I felt enraptured as this tale (no pun intended) had me accompanying High Grey, the book’s titular feline guide, on a sprawling and epic odyssey. I also couldn’t help but reminisce about the dozens upon dozens of wonderfully adventurous cats I had encountered on my travels. I hope that, like High Grey, they are all thriving and enjoying the best luxuries in life. As all cats should.” - Umar Ditta
“A fine comic book can take you to places you’ve never been that seem familiar. Makes you see through eyes that are not your own. Includes you in a life you could never have. As we join High Grey, a wise and wistful cat, on his daily travails
we enter a life of half-remembered bonds, urge and instinct. An adventure in living. A dream of being something else. A beautifully crafted and alluring tale. A fine comic book.” - Fraser Campell
